About Atlas Consulting

Our Story and What We Do

In starting Atlas Consulting, my intention was to support impact organizations in learning why the important work they did was successful, and how to get better. It became clear that these same organizations struggled with more than just causal inference. Everything in the data lifecycle - collecting, maintaining, interpreting - was a painpoint.

Atlas Consulting has since grown into a full service fractional data science consulting firm supporting government agencies, nonprofits, and small to midsize businesses. Atlas Consulting provides our clients with evidence-based program evaluation, low-touch, low-cost cloud data architecture, and predictive analytics solutions.

Our mission is to help our clients make data-driven decisions that improve outcomes, maximize impact, and reduce operational frictions of working with data.

Daniel Avila, Principal Consultant

My background in economics and public policy informs our evidence-based methods and solutions. I hold a Bachelor's in Economics from the University of Chicago, a Master's in Public Policy from the University of Chicago's Harris School of Public Policy, and have worked in impact-oriented startups, academic policy research labs, and nonprofits for seven years.

My work has applied economic theory and computational social science to criminal justice, public health, rural economic development, education, and affordable housing.
